Factors To Consider For Overseas Education : What To Keep In Mind

Recently I wrote an article on the top factors to consider when considering overseas education. In the article I mentioned about the factors to consider when choosing your university and while selecting your overseas education counsellor.

Then another list crossed my mind. A list of small things we could possibly consider when shortlisting our universities.

• Scholarships — Is the university, you are applying to, offering you any scholarships? If so are you eligible and can you request for them?
• Safety — When it comes to safety, gender does not really matter. What are the crime rates in the city? Are you allowed to keep any safety equipment with you? Do you know by heart any emergency numbers?
• Health cover or insurance — Generally it is the university that provides with a health cover or insurance. Make sure you know what all expenses does the insurance cover include.
• Relatives — Do you have any distant or close relatives living in the country? Perhaps some family friends? Contact them and be in their good books :D
• Sickness and Allergies — Do you require prescription medication for any acute illness? Or do you carry your own medications?
• Career Growth — While finding what you are passionate about is as wonderful as it can get, you must also consider the career growth opportunities. Are you easily replaceable with a robot? If yes, you need to rethink your options.
• Alumni Network — Any university will be more than happy to offer you connects with its alumni. The alumni who has passed out about two to three years ago will be your perfect catch!
• Tests — You may have to appear for test which may include TOEFL, GRE, IELTS, GMAT or PTE. Research the general requirements before you start applying as some of these exams require extensive preparation.
